November 2001 - 'Community Farm'
The innovative Downland Countryside Management Project which has been working in this district for several years has opened discussions with the Barracks Trust about setting up a permanent ‘farm’ in the Rifle Range. The project plans to reintroduce grazing animals to the North Downs and join up with the Site of Special Scientific Interest in Happy Valley.
Such a project would have the benefit of providing the farm planned for the Barracks and the expertise, materials and equipment to create a wildlife area in what once was a Council Tip.
